5 Months Old!

Dear Lucas,
This month really has been one of lots of change for you.  You are now 17 lbs 4 oz and 27" tall.  You are wearing 6-9 months clothes and you are wearing lots of them! You are still spitting up all the time and you drool tons so we change you constantly!  You learned that you can blow raspberries this last month and you just think it is the coolest thing so there is more slobber trickling on down your clothes. You also suck your thumb on occasion and think it's even cooler to blow raspberries then.

The day after you turned 4 months your hands found your feet

and a couple weeks later your mouth found your feet.

I didn't think this was physically possible with your chunky thighs but if you can get something in your mouth you will find a way!  You are still taking 3-4 30-45 minute naps a day with two hours of awake time in between.  You go down for the night about 7:30 p.m. and wake 1-2 times a night to eat.  You did sleep straight through to 5 am twice this past month. You are no longer swaddled and you sleep in a sleep sack...it's cold here! You either sleep like the below or on your side with your arm over your neck. It's too cute.

You wake up happy 95% of the time. Usually we don't even know you're awake until you start talking.  Boy do you love to talk! You still like to nap on mommy or daddy occasionally.

We didn't think you would slow down on your nursing but low and behold the doctor was right and you now go 2.5 to 3 hours in between feedings.  We think you cannot wait to start on real food and we can't wait either...just two more weeks!  You are SO close to rolling over from back to front but you haven't quite figured out how to get over your arm.

On August 6th and 20th you rolled over from front to back and daddy missed it both times so keep trying!  I'm not sure when you will consistently roll over because you don't really seem that interested so we'll see!  Things you are interested in though are the Bumbo,

your bouncer,

your play mat,

our bed,

and bath time.  You LOVE bath time and now that you have moved from the sink to the tub you get so excited.  If you are fussy in the evening we just put you in the bath and you get so happy.

You do also love to laugh and it is such a hearty laugh, just like mommy:) You have become such a happy baby.

People always comment on what a great baby you are.  You love being around people and it's a good thing because you met lots of people this past month. I need to take more pictures of your meet and greets but here are some of them.

You go on daily walks with daddy. You usually fall asleep but you have to check the place out before you do.

You went to your second street fair.  There was plenty to keep you interested.  You love to look around and take everything in. We love this because we can pretty much take you anywhere and you'll be happy if people are around.

We love you so much and are having so much fun with you! I am excited to see what the next month brings...but don't grow too fast!

Love, Mommy and Daddy

4 Months Old!

Note: This letter is written for July 25th.  Our computer has been in the shop the last couple weeks so this post was delayed.

Dear Lucas,
You have grown so much in the last month! And I don't just mean physically but that you have done too:)

You are now 25 inches tall (80th percentile), 16 lbs 4 oz (70th percentile) and have a 17 in head (90th percentile).  I have a big head too and you can't really tell so don't worry. You wear 6 month clothes.

You are just becoming such a little person and we absolutely love to play with you.

You still look like me as a baby.

But there are times where you are looking more and more like your dad:)

You are so much more interested in your toys now and we have named them all. And by interested I mean you usually just want to eat them.  The doctor confirmed that your teeth are coming in but it could take weeks or months for them to break through.

As you can probably tell from your pictures you are in your carseat a lot because we have been going all over the place but you are now so much better in the car either sleeping or talking away. We don't want you to be in your carseat too much though so you rode in your stroller like a big boy!

You like to smash your face against the mesh for some reason.

You also started sitting in your Bumbo which you are getting more and more used to but those deliciously chunky thighs of yours probably aren't going to fit much longer:)
You are so intrigued by everything around you so you almost always love going on walks just taking everything in.
You talk all day long. You really love to talk. But you are a bit shy too.  Or maybe just reserved.  When we were at a party you wouldn't make one peep.  As soon as you were alone in a room with us to get changed you just started talking away. The moment we stepped out of the room you stopped. It was too cute. I'm sure you'll get used to talking to lots of people soon.
You are still nursing about 8 - 10 times a day.  You just want to get as big as you can! We think you are going to love when you can finally eat food and mama isn't going to be too upset about it either;)  Actually I am counting down the days...6 weeks to go!

You are taking 3-4 naps a day usually lasting 20-45 minutes each. At night you go to sleep between 7:30 and 8 p.m. You wake up in the 1 am hour to eat, again about 3 hours later and then your every two hour eating feast begins.  Daddy and mommy are not really early risers so when you start to wake around 6 am we bring you into bed with us and you'll sleep another hour or even two!  We absolutely LOVE our morning canoodles with you:)

You still spit up A LOT but we've gotten used to it.  Just lots of laundry! You're still gaining weight and it doesn't seem to bother you anymore.

You had to get your 4-month vaccinations and even though they hurt so bad you stopped crying as soon as it was all done.
Even though you sleep in the car as soon as the car stops you are up but after these shots you stayed asleep.  It was exhausting!
Overall you are such a happy kid and we cannot get enough of your smiles.
We know you won't want to be held for long so we are getting in all the snuggles we can.

I mean how can you resist this?!

We love you so much and are looking forward to looking at this exciting world through your eyes.

Love, Mommy and Daddy
