12 Months Old! Or should I say 1 year?!

Dear Lucas,
You are a year old today! I cannot believe a year ago you entered this world and changed our lives forever. The year has flown by but Daddy and I couldn't imagine life without you. You are funny, cuddly, strange, loud, happy, emotional and just flat out amazing.
I will update your measurements on Thursday after your doctor's appointment. You love brushing your teeth. If you see mom or dad doing it then you must get in on the action. Sometimes it is the only thing that will calm you down. Never too early to start good hygiene!
You had a lot of celebrations this month. We celebrated Fiona's first birthday.
You celebrated your first St. Patrick's Day. Daddy and mommy love making food this day. Corned beef and cabbage is probably one of our favorite meals. You weren't too fond of it but you sure liked your shirt!
You also had your first birthday celebration and ate your first bite of sugar. At first you weren't too sure about the frosting but then you were all in on the cake.
You love sharing with mommy and daddy. This included the cake but also includes anything you take from another kid. We need to work on who you are supposed to be sharing with:) You did have a lot of fun with your cousins at your party.
You "drove" a car for the first time. Now you want to do it all the time. Between us, when we are pulling the car into the garage from the driveway we let you:)
You are still very much into books. Every morning we play with them and read some and then throughout the day you'll head back into your room just to get in some more book time.
Auntie Angelina visited a couple times and you have so much fun with her. She let's you play with her phone and you quickly figured out how to scroll through pictures and talk to Siri.
She also has been playing with you lots. She can really get you to laugh hard.
You absolutely love playing peekaboo. As soon as we say the word no matter what you are doing you will crouch down and then stand up and say "ada!", even if you aren't hiding behind anything. But you also do hide behind things and play too. You started doing this thing where you rest your head on your high chair and I'm pretty sure you just do it because you know it looks cute.
Hanging with Daddy may be your all-time favorite. You love "guy time" whether it be bbqing, pulling weeds or just resting.
Your second all-time favorite thing just may be running up and down the hall. You love to scream and laugh up and down and up and down. Sometimes you bring something with you. You really started loving stuffed animals. We will give you an animal and you will hug it or lay on it for a minute. It's too cute! And now you even run up and give us hugs. We didn't know if you would be a cuddly kid and we absolutely love that you are.
Happy birthday little man! We love you so much and love the person you are becoming. Thank you for choosing us as your parents. We are so excited to watch you continue to grow.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Safari Party

We celebrated Lucas's first birthday with friends and family on March 22 with a Safari party. Lucas loves animals so much so it was an easy decision. Of course I had grander ideas than I could actually complete so I was late on getting the party completed, didn't do everything I wanted and even found clean laundry sitting on our couch after everyone left! I was a mess but I had a wonderful time and I think Lucas did too so that's what is important. Our big guy doesn't actually turn 1 until the 25th. Here is the day in pictures. I'm exhausted and just trying to get a post on this before he turns 2;)
Please disregard the missing 'I' and 'U'. Lucas ate them. No he didn't. Well, maybe. We'll never know...
Lucas has been obsessed with his animals. He'll go up and give them  hugs out of nowhere. We may have a vet on our hands.
Buddies! Who would at the moment prefer not be close to each other;) I'm sure Preslie's Papa doesn't mind a bit. Haha!
Lucas's other "birth" buddy! Splashing in the water.
Cousins showing off the animal masks they colored.
Getting ready for cake!
Family shot! Of course the candle wouldn't light.

Loved his cupcake!
After searching for his perfect party shirt I realized that I had no pictures of it so at the end of the day we snuck one in.
Lucas size balloons!
One of my other fails was not taking pictures of the decorations so here are some from the day after just so I can remember that I did spend a lot of time picking things out to make his safari look festive. Not all of these were how they were decorated while at the party. My husband is a very neat guy and literally the moment the last person left the outdoor areas and most of inside was cleaned up within an hour.
I did manage to get his wall of monthly pictures up but I  don't think many people saw it based on it's location.  One of those Pinterest's "Nailed it." If you don't know what I'm talking about google Pinterest Nailed It.;)

Lucas sized wild animals.
Goodie bags with some outdoorsy touches.
We had these balloons placed in different areas outside.
These balloons have been providing hours of fun.
Jungle animals were placed around the house.
I just realized I got no group picture or child group picture. Good thing we have the memories!;) Tomorrow my baby turns one…off to go shed a tear;(

11 Months Old!

Lucas,
You turned 11 months old on February 25th. Things have been pretty crazy so this is going to be short and sweet because there are still some things that I want you to know about this month. You hung out with friends
and family.
You celebrated your first Super Bowl.
The biggest events were your first plane ride and you became a full-blown walker. We went and visited Auntie Shira in Maine and you did amazingly on the planes.
We got so many comments on how good you were and when people passed us to get off the plane you would wave to them giving everyone such big smiles. You are quite the social butterfly when you are close to mom. You love Auntie Shira's dog, Chase, but Chase isn't too sure about kiddos so whenever you would try and walk over to him he would get up and move.
You were determined to get to him though so you would just take more and more steps until there was almost no stopping you.
You love and prefer to be walking all. the. time. You are one fast little guy!
Daddy couldn't believe how much you grew in the five days we were gone. You also started making new reactive noises when we were on the trip so you really came back with new "tricks." You also saw your first snow but it was too cold to touch it. You love to dance. You have quite the moves and almost anytime you hear music you start dancing, even if you are sitting in your carseat or high chair. You still love food.
You are such an amazing eater.

Your naps are great, taking two a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Your night sleep isn't too bad either waking only once to eat but you still love to get up right at 6 am (yawn…). You have started getting a little less upset in swim class when the teacher holds you but you still prefer that she not get near you. We also started music class and you love all the instruments, songs and music. I'm sure it didn't hurt that Dad introduced drums to you.
Outside of our little coastal bubble we went and had a play date with your friends Mav and Audri. You are still figuring out how to interact with kids but these two are so social I think it won't be long before you get with it. You had a great day but preferred to just watch them:) We missed a pic with Mav but here's Audri feeding you a pinecone!
You have so much fun with Daddy.
You are a goofball and we love every minute with you!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
