On his birthday (March 25) his size:
Wears 18 mo clothes. Can fit in some 12 mo tops but also wears 12-18 mo clothes. Size 2T is around the corner but still a bit big. At 2.5 years old we have transitioned to 2T but some 18-24 months is still being worn.
2 years:
Weighs 28 lbs
First height measurement put him at 33" which would have him in the 9th percentile but the doctor thought that wasn't right so two weeks later another doctor remeasured (we forgot to at the first) and he is 36".
Lucas has definitely leaned out but his cheeks are as chubby as ever. When he runs they jiggle;)
Wearing 5.5 size shoes at 2 years but has jump to size 7 at 2.5.
Development:
One week after we got Lucas tested because he was a bit delayed in using words he started talking. It started with him running to his new, crying sister and yelling "No, no, no". He hasn't stopped talking since. Every week he adds more words. By his second birthday people said that he spoke so well for his age. So apparently there was nothing for me to worry about;) His favorite word is still No. Since he signed so well it has really helped with his speech communication. When we don't understand what he is saying he can usually sign or even just use hand gestures or sounds to help us understand. He is one smart little cookie.
Lucas is doing great in swim. He loves going and is continually growing with his lessons. He can swim underwater from point A to point B up to about 10 ft. He loves jumping in the pool and getting thrown in the air. He is not that great with change though so when learning a new thing he definitely fights it for awhile.
Gymnastics is so much fun. Lucas loves running around, climbing and doing somersaults. Well, really he loves kicking the giant balls and playing the puzzles but when I can pry him away from those things he does love doing the aforementioned.
He also does really well with he structure portion. He knows the warm up by heart and will sit on the "listening line" during everyone's turn of the new exercise being taught. He doesn't usually want to try the new trick but he will wait for everyone else to do it before running off. A couple months ago we stopped gymnastics because it doesn't fit in our nap schedule anymore.
Lucas can count to 13 or 14 and with help can get to 20. When we're singing the ABCs he knows about half of letters in the right spot somewhere in the song. He knows all the regular colors.
At the end of March we started soccer and now are in our third "season." There are no games, it is just skill learning. Lucas LOVES it. When we walk up to the field he screams "Soccer time!"
Loves:
Some may say obsession are trucks. Boy does this kid love him some trucks. He is also really into ghosts. He doesn't understand (nor have we even tried to explain) where ghosts come from. He knows that they say Boo and are "spooky."
He thinks he loves spooky things but really that stops with the Berenstain Bears and Curious George. Halloween decorations are popping up at the stores and he did not like the creepy clown. He does like the ghosts and skeletons though. He also has no issue with the dark.
Lucas is still my cautious kid and has a great memory. A couple of months ago he took a tumble down a slide so now he will not go down a slide alone. He tests things out, for awhile, before he proceeds. Because of this though I don't worry about him running away from me or going into the street.
He is potty training and it SUCKS! But at home he's mastered it. When we're out playing it's a whole other story. He's making progress though so we are chugging along.
This kid is funny, stubborn, caring, strong-willed, curious and loves his parents (& usually his sister)!
